Old-Gothic

A classic hand moulded facing brick with dark nuances

The (non-perforated) facing brick is sanded on five sides. The surface may be given a frog (a slanted oblong groove) on its bed. The firing process takes place in a gas-heated tunnel kiln. The bricks have a rough structure, irregular shape, and a strong resemblance to recovered bricks.

The brick has a red base. The typical old aspect is the result of the wet and unbaked bricks’ treatment with various admixtures. In addition, the various types of sand are responsible for calcareous sediments slightly diminishing the red colour. The hues range from soft red to dark red with beige, white and grey shadings. The different structures are the result of sawdust on the one hand and white, finegrained sand on the other. The colours shown are a near reflection of reality.

I would like to see some references of this brick, in my area.
