Whether you are repairing a section of a facade damaged by impact or building an extension that needs to blend in seamlessly with your current home: you want a brick that matches what is already there. Because bricks are natural products and existing walls discolour due to weather conditions, a 100% exact copy is often a challenge. However, in our showroom, we are happy to help you find the stone that comes closest.

Here is how to best prepare for your showroom visit:

  1. Bring an original brick

The most important thing is for us to see the current brick in person. Bring a (relatively clean) brick from the existing wall. Does your facade consist of variegated bricks? Then bring several bricks in different shades so we can compare the full colour palette with our current range.

  1. Provide clear overview photos (in the right light)

A photo of the entire facade gives us the necessary context regarding the appearance, the mortar, and the bonding pattern.

Tip: Take this photo preferably on a cloudy day or in soft daylight. Bright sunlight creates harsh shadows in the joints and can easily give bricks a distorted, yellowish, or warm glow on screen.

  1. What if the old brick size is no longer available?

Especially with older facades, it happens that the original brick size is no longer produced. In that case, we primarily look for a brick with the exact same height.

If the height of the new brick matches, the horizontal mortar lines will continue neatly. Any difference in the length of the brick is much less noticeable in the overall masonry, allowing the new section to flow naturally into the existing wall.

Keep slight colour differences in mind

Bricks are made from clay and fired at high temperatures. As a result, every production batch has slight natural variations. Additionally, your existing facade has been exposed to rain and sun for years, meaning the bricks and mortar have weathered. A newly bricked section will always look slightly fresher initially, but this difference often levels out significantly over time.
