What should you consider when choosing?
1. Appearance of your facade
- WV 50 and WV 65 are our most frequently used formats.
- WV 50 is traditional and common in Flanders & the Netherlands.
- WV 65 is often used in Wallonia, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and for Export. - N70/4 and N70/5 are slimmer and longer, creating a modern, horizontal facade look.
- N70/6,5 is the robust variant in our slim range. Because it is the same height as a standard Waal format 65, the facade looks more massive and familiar than with the finer N70/4 or N70/5, while you retain the technical advantages of the narrow brick.
- RF 4 is a narrow format formerly known as Vecht format – long used mainly for renovations or repairs. Today, we see the format increasingly in modern, sleek designs, where the fine proportions add a contemporary touch.
- NNF is the widest and heaviest format in our range, popular with customers in Germany who appreciate a robust facade appearance.
2. Processing and installation
- Longer formats (such as N70 or NNF) require fewer bricks per m², so they are faster to process.
- N70 formats are also shallower (70 mm instead of 100 mm) making them lighter and more ergonomic.
- NNF is heavier due to its format but also reduces pointing.
3. Price per m²
- Larger formats are often more economical per m² thanks to fewer bricks and less pointing.
(Note: this may vary by brick type)
4. Transport costs
- Formats like N70 are more compact in depth, allowing more m² to be transported per truck. This lowers the logistical cost and the ecological impact.
