During the Family Business Happening at Tectum in Genk, the nominees for the Best Family Business Award were celebrated for their exemplary approach. Nelissen Bricks ultimately claimed De Fakkel, the prestigious prize.

At the Family Business Happening, CEOs Carlos Jorissen, Joeri Gevers, and Burt Nelissen received De Fakkel from Chairmen Francis Wanten and Bart Balis. "Different branches of the family have successfully ensured the continuity of the business. The organization and structure of Nelissen Bricks highlight their dedication to family governance. Their strengths include short decision-making lines between CEOs and clear distinctions between commercial, operational, and financial management. They also have a family charter, a family forum, an advisory board, and a board of directors," explained Balis.
