Yuco, the new generation of brick slips by Nelissen Bricks, has won the Futurebuild Innovation Award 2026 in the Best Established Company category at the Futurebuild trade fair at Brussels Expo. The award recognises established companies that continue to innovate and translate their expertise into concrete, sustainable impact within the construction sector.

The jury praised Yuco for its forward-looking approach, combining innovation, material development and sustainability in a new generation of brick slips. Designed for contemporary façade systems where materials, sustainability and design freedom come together, these brick slips currently retain the familiar aesthetic of traditional brick. However, they are produced without a firing process, resulting in a significantly lower CO₂ footprint.

Recognition for continuous innovation

The award in the Best Established Company category underlines that experienced players continue to play a key role in the transition towards a more sustainable construction sector.

“The importance of innovation — and being recognised for it — feels incredibly rewarding,” says Werner de Bresser, initiator and Director of Yuco Brick Slips. “This recognition confirms that with Yuco we are heading in the right direction: continuing to innovate, while respecting craftsmanship and keeping a clear focus on the future of our industry.”

Building the future together

With this achievement, Nelissen Bricks highlights its ambition to actively contribute to the evolution of façade construction through Yuco. In addition, the family-owned company continues to invest in making its ceramic production more sustainable, aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions by 42% by 2030.

Nelissen Bricks also congratulates all other nominees and winners. Together, they are taking important steps towards a more innovative and sustainable construction sector.
