Old-Brussels

Aspect and structure
  • The (non-perforated) facing brick is sanded on five sides.
  • The surface may be given a frog (a slanted oblong groove) on its bed.
  • The firing process takes place in a gas-heated tunnel kiln.
  • The bricks have a rough structure, irregular shape, and a strong resemblance to recovered bricks.
Colour
  • The surface of the brick is pale pink.
  • The typical aged appearance is obtained by treating the wet unfired bricks with various aggregates, preceded by a light mechanical treatment.
  • Colours range from soft pastel shades to orange-red combined with marl and light grey nuances.
  • The colours shown are a near reflection of reality.
