The Yuco brick slips developed by Nelissen Bricks have been nominated for the “Hét product Made in Limburg” award. This nomination recognises Yuco’s innovative approach to shaping the façades of the future: sustainable, circular, and with the warm, authentic look of brick.
With Yuco, Nelissen is developing a new generation of non-ceramic brick slips that combine the appearance and technical properties of traditional brick, but without a firing process. The slips fit seamlessly into existing ETICS and prefab façade systems, offering a strong response to the growing demand for low-carbon materials in the construction sector.
“This nomination feels like an incredible recognition,” says Werner De Bresser, founder and Director of Yuco Brick Slips. “By thinking outside the box and completely reimagining the brick slip production process, we were able to create new opportunities and insights. The aesthetic appeal of brick was never up for debate.”
Hardly distinguishable from real brick
Yuco currently produces two variants – hand-moulded and wasserstrich – in a wide range of colours and shades, including dimensionally stable corner slips. The current focus lies on the WV 50 format, the most common in Flanders and the Netherlands, but other formats can easily be achieved. Even for experienced façade specialists, the difference with traditional brick is barely visible.
The nomination highlights the innovative strength of Limburg’s manufacturing industry and Nelissen’s long-term commitment to sustainability. While Yuco is redefining the future of façade construction, the family-owned company continues to decarbonise its ceramic production, with the goal of reducing CO₂ emissions by 42% by 2030.
