Lava

Aspect and structure
  • The (non-perforated) facing brick is sanded on five sides.
  • The surface may be given a frog (a slanted oblong groove) on its bed.
  • The structure looks rugged with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface.
  • The firing process takes place in a gas-heated tunnel kiln.
Colour
  • The different types of sand used result in a light grey coloured brick.
  • The colours range from silver grey, beige grey to mouse grey alternated with blue shades.
  • The different structures are the result of sawdust on the one hand and white, fine-grained sand on the other.
  • The colours shown are a near reflection of reality.
