Nearly one year after the appointments of a Finance Director and Commercial Director, Kathy De Bruyne officially takes on the role of HR Director at Nelissen Bricks today. With this addition, the family-owned company aims to further strengthen its focus on HR policies and, consequently, on its employees.

Kathy De Bruyne & Burt Nelissen

At the end of 2022, Nelissen took the first steps toward professionalizing its organizational structure by establishing a management team. While the commercial and financial roles were quickly filled at the executive level, the search for an HR Director continued.

“Nelissen places great importance on the family values within our company and always puts its employees first,” explains CEO Burt Nelissen. “Hiring an HR Director was a logical next step for us, enabling us to further enhance the professionalism of our HR policies.”

The three CEO’s – Burt Nelissen, Carlos Jorissen, and Joeri Gevers – are now joined by three Directors to support them in steering the company. Finance Director Betsy Lathouwers and Commercial Director Kim Vandebosch are now accompanied by HR Director Kathy De Bruyne.

25 years of HR Expertise

Kathy De Bruyne brings 25 years of HR experience to the table, having built her expertise at companies such as Production Resource Group (PRG) and Carrefour. For the past six years, she served as HR Director at Het Poetsbureau, a role she will now continue within Nelissen’s management team. This also means she will take on some of the responsibilities previously handled by CEO Burt Nelissen.

Burt explains, “I’ve been overseeing our Human Resources policies for more than 30 years. From now on, HR will fall under Kathy’s leadership. Of course, I will remain active as CEO and Operations Director.”

Kathy is eager to take on this new challenge. “From day one at Nelissen, you feel the warm and people-centered dynamic of a Limburg-based family business. The focus on innovation and sustainability is something they also aim to integrate into their HR policies. There’s already a solid foundation in place, and I’m excited to take the next steps alongside the current team,” Kathy concludes.
